What are the pros and cons to opening them and not opening them?
I don't think I'll keep them long enough to the point where I will resell them.

Well, they don't roll nearly as well when you leave them in the package.

you can't play with 'em if you don't open 'em. and it's a scientific fact that people that have toys but don't play with them aren't allowed in heaven.

Every day you go without opening the package is an hour off your life. Scientific fact.

Con- It won't make the loop if it's still in the box

Harder to do this when they're still in the packaging.

Pro to not opening: they hang on the wall very nicely
Con to not opening: you cannot play with them

Totally depends. I want to open mine, but I also love the packaging itself. Especially after they update it. It's neat to see how things have changed.
Also, make sure you know what you have. Sometimes cars were released in a multipack very commonly but were extremely hard to find on an individual card. That could mean it's worth about $2,700 in the box and just around $2 loose. And that's not just made up, exaggerated numbers; it's a real example:
There are people out there who have found one and opened it before finding out how important the packaging was. No word on whether any of them have ever forgiven themselves.
